Morte D’Arthur Reflection

In the Knight’s Tale is portrays a young night who is competition against other brave men. He wishes to win the heart of a girl and lets her consume him throughout the movie. He shows the knights code by never turning a foe and fighting every fight without hesitation. Hes on a quest for love and acceptance.

These qualities are shown in so many movies and shows. These are the basic foundation to many story lines. They have main protagonists and quests that they partake in. Along with the repetition of 3 and 7.

Canterbury Tales Reflection

In the Prologue it gave descriptive details about all twenty-nine characters along with their stories and a lesson at the end to help the reader take something away from each one. It helps you directly and indirectly form an opinion of each character and their up bringing.

In the Pardoners Tale it talked about these men who wanted to escape death and came across treasure and planned to escape with it when night comes. They end up killing each other out of greed, therefore creating the saying “greed is the root of all evil.”

In the wife of Baths tale it talked about women’s greatest desire. The old woman gives the knight the choice of having her as a wife or a younger, more beautiful woman. This showed that woman just want to be loved and to be able to have control over men and marriage.

Reflection on Sir Gawain and the Green Knight

My reflection the sir Gawain and the Green Knight was that it portrayed the knights code and chivalry very well. Sir Gawain protected his king and was willing to fight the mysterious Green Knight in order to show his braveness. Although later in the story he lies and excepts a gift he learns his lesson and doesnt turn down his foe.

The language in the story was hard to understand, they used words that are commonly npt used today. I was forced to turn to other outlets to comprehend the writing. The story itself was a bit weird in a way because it had supernatural things throughout, like the green knight getting his chopped off and then picking up his head and walking out.

historical background project

During the historical background project I learned a lot about history and different groups within history that changed how things work today. It opened my eyes to how england was formed and the different groups that held the throne for years. It showed me who was weak and who was strong enough to defend themselves against enemies and later concord the land.

The new technology we had to lose was not my favorite. Having to adapt to different sites and how they functioned was confusing. Although I learned to expand my horizons I’m better at sticking to sites that are within my comfort zones.

Beowulf/Elegies Reflection

Reading about the Anglo-Saxon time period I learned a lot about the qualities of the typical hero back then. They seemed brave and confident. They usually came from a royal family or someone well known. They would fight for their people and defend their honor. In a modern hero I think the quality traits have changed, we view people like our parents to be a hero. People who are not only physically fit but emotionally as well. Honesty and loyalty seem to be a trend in modern hero’s.

Learning about hero’s and their qualities made me reflect on the people in my life that I feel deserve the name of “hero”. People such as my mom, she’s honest, brave, and protects the people she lives without hesitation. This not only affects me but everyone that meets her as well.

Clutter Reflection

After reading “On Writing Well” by William Zinsser I learned how common clutter is and how easily it can take over someone’s writing. Many people use clutter unintentionally and realize how in their writing they veered off track and added unneeded details.

Some examples of clutter writing are words such as… they, in, for, this, that, these, so, very, often, can’t, won’t, you, your, ect. After realizing that these common words are clutter it helped me with my writing.

Scholarship Essay

Writing this scholarship essay opened my eyes to things I didn’t even know were significant to me. One being how much I look up to my mom and how she’s truly motivated me throughout my life. She’s taught me to be independent and hard working, always treat others the way you want to be treated.

The goals I set for my self are the reason I continue to learn and educate myself. I want to go to WSC after graduation and later continue my education at Seattle University so I can hopefully one day become an Psychologist.

This essay did come with some complications for me. Some being the main topic I would choose and how I would catch the attention of the reader. Now that’s it’s done though, I feel relieved and agree with the points I chose.
